Words Adrift / A guide to this place

A guide to this place

A few gestures. Each with its own meaning.

01 / Begin

Give a few words
some room.

Write in One Breath, Three Lines or Five Lines. Save drafts privately, return to them, and Release one when it feels ready. There is room for one Release a day, shared by original writing and interpretations.

Writing is optional. You can begin by reading.

Writing & listening

Words have a rhythm.
You can hear it.

Writing Sound responds as you type. Characters play notes within your chosen scale. Spaces reverse the musical drift, line breaks return it to its beginning, and deleting has its own brief sound. Choose your mode, volume, sound and haptics in Me → Writing Sound.

Listening gives a Fragment a musical expression, with optional spoken words. Its pauses, phrasing and relative musical structure stay connected to the released writing. Your key, scale, accompaniment, rhythm and voice preferences shape how you hear it.

Visit Me → Listening Sound to explore these choices with sample writing. When reading a Fragment, choose to listen whenever you wish.

The music accompanies the writing; it does not claim to explain its meaning or the writer’s feelings. You can turn sound off and read in silence.

02 / Encounter

Words from elsewhere.

Arrivals bring a small collection of words into your day. Our starting rhythm is up to five. Availability depends on words in circulation; some days may bring fewer.

Read at your own pace. Listening and translation are optional aids. Translation helps you understand the original; it does not replace it or become an interpretation.

03 / Keep

Let it stay with you.

Keep is a private bookmark. Find kept words later in Journeys. Keeping does not send the Fragment onward, extend its Journey, or show a public reaction.

The writer does not see who kept their words.

04 / Interpret

Begin your own words.

An interpretation is new writing, connected to its source by attribution. It can be in the same language or another. Choose your own form, save a draft, and Release when ready.

It uses your daily Release, and begins a Journey of its own. The original remains the original.

05 / Pass

Give the same words
another Journey.

Pass continues the life of the same Fragment. A new Journey makes room for ten different readers. If a Journey is already active, the next one waits until it rests; only one is active at a time.

You have one Pass a day, separate from your Release. Keep and Pass can coexist, but they do different things.

No response is required. Reading is enough.

06 / Return

A quiet moment
to look back.

Journeys holds your released, interpreted and kept words. A monthly reflection offers a few words to revisit and an optional private writing prompt. There are no activity scores or streaks.

Words can rest between Journeys. Resurfacing is something we will learn about carefully as this place grows.
